Dazzling Ones,
Fear. Suspicion. Danger. Disaster. Death. Tragedy. These are just a few of the key words associated with human interaction on the front pages of today’s newspapers. It is said that media organizations may prioritize negative news because it’s more attention-grabbing. It can also turn people off and cause us to tune out.
In these times, while not burying our heads in the sand, it is important to see the capacity for human kindness and the beauty of the world. Humans are naturally inclined toward kindness, and we can develop our capacity for kindness throughout our lives. Kindness is a complex trait that involves empathy, compassion, and other skills and dispositions. That is beautiful.
This Sunday we will be looking at the Transfiguration story. On the mountaintop before his inner circle, Jesus is revealed as his full radiant self. We are given a glimpse of the glory of God, awakening us to the promises of God that can be attained if we but listen.
I look forward to seeing your radiant selves at 10 am Sunday on 1130 Balclutha, Zoom, or Livestream.
Share the love,
Rev. Michael
