Beloveds,
This Sunday will mark our third Homecoming together as we enter our fourth year in ministry together. My, my, how time flies. It has been nothing short of marvelous as we move into the future, examining and reestablishing who we are and how we want to be in the community.
I’m not sure if I shared one of my exchanges at Foster City Summer Days with you. It involved a woman and her husband who had moved here in 1970. As is the case with some of the long-time residents, they exclaimed, “Oh, the Pancake Breakfast Church! We loved attending those!” This was followed by further reminiscing about the “good old days” and how they are missed.
Well, here we are entering into the final months of 2024, and a few things have changed. We have a new school that is thriving. We are getting closer to the fruition of a community garden. There are some ideas percolating. And, as the song goes, “these are the good old days.”
I look forward to seeing you at 10 am Sunday on Balclutha, Zoom, or Livestream as we look at Mark 8:27-38 where Jesus asks, “But who do you say that I am?” Invite a new friend or someone who hasn’t been around in a while.
There’s no place like home,
Rev. Michael Cronin
P.S. Next week Rev. Michael and Janet Hollingshead will come home while I am in Cincinnati at the Open & Affirming Coalition Annual Gathering.
