Comrades,
This past weekend, we had a successful showing at Foster City Summer Days. From 11am to 5 pm on Saturday and Sunday, Island United ambassadors greeted and chatted with people. Our button coloring and making was a hit with kids and parents alike; we made 150-200 units. We also had an opportunity to personally invite people to our upcoming 60th celebration and talk about the launching of Joy Scouts. Being visibly present in the larger community is an important part of ministry.
I want to especially thank Brian, Machiko, Alexis, Jeannie, Phoebe, and Brent for their help in making this a success.
This Sunday, we will look at Matthew 16:13-20. Jesus asks, “Who do you say I am?” to the disciples, and he promises Peter that he will build his church upon him and give him the keys of the kin’dom. For 60 years we have been promised keys to build community. What will we do with them next?
I look forward to seeing you Sunday at 10 am on 1130 Balclutha, Zoom, or Livestream as we dive deeper into the text. Invite someone into the community.
Love,
Rev. Michael
