Well, my friends,
This is it. Another church year draws to a close, and the Reign of Christ Sunday is here. We celebrate Jesus Christ as Sovereign of the cosmos, not of a political realm, but as the Good Shepherd of all creation and Christ’s authority over all things. We recognize the tension of what already is and what is still yet to be – the hope of God’s completed reign, and our responsibility to live as disciples of Christ by showing love and service to others. And since Thanksgiving is upon us, let’s throw in a little gratitude.
We close out the year reflecting upon Luke 23:33-43 – Jesus’s crucifixion with the two thieves and one of the seven last words: “Truly I tell you, today you will be with me in paradise.” What does paradise look like to you?
I look forward to seeing you on Sunday at 10 am on 1130 Balclutha, Zoom, or Livestream.
’til then,
Rev. Michael
P.S. Please consider attending – in person or online – the TDOR event tonight; RSVP is below. It will be a powerful remembrance and show of solidarity. Also, the Annual Harvest Dinner at Congregational Church of the Peninsula on Saturday is a tasty, fun way to build relationship with our sibling UCC congregations; RSVP is also below.
