Joyful Ones,
Get your pink on, it’s Gaudete (Joy) Sunday! We are called to “Rejoice” the nearness of Christmas as we hear the Magnificat – Mary’s Song of Praise expressing her joy and gratitude to God for choosing her as the Mother of Jesus. Dr. Marcia McFee of Worship Design Studio writes, “The pregnancy of Mary is connected to the promise of justice and joy in the readings this week. Mary’s womb becomes a sacred space for the gestation of grace that moves into, and is transforming, the world. We will ponder the spaces we inhabit at home, work, and community, asking whether they are feeding, nurturing, and reflecting the freedom and joy that is so desperately needed.”
As the Third Sunday of Advent approaches, I invite you to reflect upon your sacred spaces and what brings you joy.
One of my sacred spaces is Lake Tahoe. As soon as I come over the pass and start descending into the basin, I can feel the healing vibration and sense of calm that permeates my body. In Summer, jumping into the lake and emerging to the surface is like being rebirthed. When I look at the pic I took above, I can immediately be transported to that joyful place.
With joy, I look forward to seeing your bright shiny faces on Sunday at 10 am whether it be on 1130 Balclutha, Zoom, or Livestream. Invite a friend to share in the joy.
Love,
Rev. Michael
