Shining Ones,
On most days, I can see the Farallon Islands from the west windows of my house. Each night, I get the gift of sunset. I have image upon image, post upon post with “Just another lousy sunset”. One year for my birthday, an elementary school friend had a custom cake made, frosted with the quote and a sunset rendering. I’ve said, if I ever complain about it, it’s time to send me to the farm.
We are gifted by living in a most remarkable geographical area. And I am gifted with a congregation that chose to go solar as both a sustainable energy choice and a creation care legacy.
This Sunday, my colleague and friend Rev. Casey Tinnin of SunSource (our installer) will gift us with a celebratory word. And, if you’ve not heard him speak, you will come to know what I mean by gift. After he shares a reflection on Micah 6:8 and Matthew 6:25-27, we will have a feast provided by The Waffle Roost Food Truck. Bring your open hearts, your ears to hear, and appetites to feast. Bring a friend!
Love,
Rev. Michael
P.S. Still looking for those hymn or song requests!
