Faithful Servants,
Brent loves to get gold stars. For him, it is a symbol of accomplishment: he did an excellent job, and the one presenting them acknowledges and appreciates the work he has done. Can you recall a moment when you were told that someone was well pleased with you – that warm fuzzy feeling?
It might not have been all biblical with doves descending, light being cast upon you, and hearing a voice from the heavens saying, “This is my Child, the Beloved, with whom I am well pleased.” But it felt good nonetheless. Someone acknowledged you and valued your being.
This Sunday we will be reflecting upon Matthew 3:13-17 – Jesus’s baptism and his revelation as God’s servant. No small responsibility. The greater the accolade, the greater the responsibility.
I look forward to seeing you again, after what seems like forever, on Sunday at 10 am on 1130 Balclutha, Zoom, or Livestream. Invite someone to the water.
With joy,
Rev. Michael
