Dear Ones,
Most of us have heard the old African proverbs “If you want to go fast, go alone; if you want to go far, go together” or “It takes a village to raise a child”. I believe that church at its best embodies these sage statements.
Think about it. For 60 years, Island United – at the heart of Foster City – has raised families together, and the community has sustained itself through thick and through thin because we have worked together. Churches are on the decline, yet here is the little church that not only can but does. And what do we want to continue to do and become?
The Changemaker Initiative series is inviting us to (re)discover what the true “assets” of our community can be, putting our faith into action in the world spurred by the passion of the people of our church. This week Rev. Terri Echelbarger will talk about collaboration through the lens of Luke 10:1-11. I know she’ll be fantastic and offer valuable insights.
I hope you will join us at 10 am on 1130 Balclutha, Zoom, or Livestream. Invite a collaborator!
Love,
Rev. Michael
P.S. I am away and offline Wednesday, September 17 through Wednesday, September 24, returning on Thursday the 25th. Rev. Jim will be available to you, should you need pastoral care.
